Strangely enough this is a feel good book. You follow Natalie’s exhilarating swimming career with bated breath and at 7.30 one morning her world seems to come to an end. A car crashes into her motorcycle . Her left leg is strangely twisted and she can see her femur sticking up into her pants. She is conscious the whole time. A man comes to help her and tells her about his kayaking adventures to distract her At no stage does she consider giving up her brilliant career in spite of the loss of her leg. She seems to have been propelled into a new kind of swimming future with no thought of ever looking back or giving up. This kind of heroism in one so young is awesome, humbling and inspiring. She has swum on against all odds becoming the most outstanding athlete, voted in by 72 nations and countries, winning the coveted David Nixon trophy. The decision in favour of Natalie was unanimous. This is a very easy read, accurate and inspiring. I enjoyed in thoroughly.
